Traffic signs

Signs giving orders (mandatory signs)


 

Signs giving orders indicate a mandatory instruction for road users.
They are placed where the instruction applies or where it begins to apply.

Drivers must proceed in the direction indicated by the arrow

D 11.6 Mandatory direction, straight ahead or left only

Drivers must proceed either straight ahead or turn left, as indicated by the arrows.


D 11.7 Mandatory direction, straight ahead or right only

Drivers must proceed either straight ahead or turn right, as indicated by the arrows.


D 11.8 Mandatory direction, left or right only

Drivers must turn either left or right, as indicated by the arrows.


D 12 Mandatory direction, roundabout

Drivers must proceed in the direction indicated by the arrows around the roundabout.


D 15.2 Mandatory passing, pass to the left of the sign

Vehicles and large mopeds must pass to the left of the sign. This does not apply when entering a lay by, a bus lane, a parking lane, or a similar area.


D 15.3 Mandatory passing, pass to the right of the sign

Vehicles and large mopeds must pass to the right of the sign. This does not apply when entering a lay by, a bus lane, a parking lane, or a similar area.


D 16 Optional passing, pass on either side

Vehicles and large mopeds may pass on either side of the obstruction.


D 21 Cycle track

This sign indicates a track that must be used by cyclists and riders of small mopeds. Other vehicles must not use it. Pedestrians may use the cycle track where permitted.

A supplementary plate may show that riders of small mopeds must use the carriageway instead.


D 22 Pedestrian path

This sign indicates a path that must be used by pedestrians and may only be used by pedestrians.


D 23 Bridle path

This sign indicates a path reserved for horse riders only.


D 26 Divided path

This sign indicates a path with separate lanes divided by road markings, a verge, or similar features. Each lane may only be used by the type of road user shown by the symbol.


D 27 Shared path

This sign indicates a path that must be used by the types of road user shown by the symbols and may only be used by those road users. Users of a shared path must show mutual consideration.


D 55 Minimum speed

This mandatory instruction applies to drivers, except cyclists and riders of small mopeds. It remains in force until it is cancelled by sign D56, or until the distance shown on the supplementary plate has been covered.


D 56 End of minimum speed

This sign indicates that the minimum speed requirement no longer applies.
